schnell.digital GmbH has released the autumn update of its AI Kit. Mid-sized businesses decide for themselves where their AI processes run and which model works behind them.

German companies see themselves as dependent on other countries for digital technologies. In a Bitkom survey for the Digital Summit 2026, 94 percent of 602 companies rate Germany as strongly or rather dependent, and 56 percent source artificial intelligence from abroad. schnell.digital GmbH from Augsburg has now released the autumn update of the schnell.digital AI Kit, the AI platform for mid-sized businesses. It runs in a data centre in Germany or on the company’s own servers, and the business chooses the AI model behind it.

According to Bitkom, 73 percent of companies are now worried about their dependence on the USA, up from 38 percent in 2024. Of the companies that import digital technologies, 44 percent are increasingly turning to providers from Germany and Europe. With AI, mid-sized businesses find this step difficult because the large language models come predominantly from the USA.

“In Germany we talk a lot about only being users of AI. A mid-sized business can still decide for itself where its data is stored, what the AI may do with it and who approves the result. We build this layer in Augsburg, and the model behind it stays interchangeable,” says Patrick Schnell, founder and managing director of schnell.digital GmbH.

In the AI Kit, business departments describe a process in their own words, for example: “When an email arrives in the service inbox, use our responsibility table to determine who is responsible and forward it to that person.” This becomes a workflow whose steps read as sentences and are configured there. Since the autumn update, AI agents for tasks that involve follow-up questions use finished workflows as tools and bring in other agents with their own expertise. Results arrive as Word or Excel files, and answers name where they were found in the company knowledge.

Also new is pseudonymisation that can be switched on per agent. It replaces detected names, email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses with placeholders before an external AI model receives the text. Where it matters, a process pauses until a person approves, and every run is logged. Models on offer include those from OpenAI, Anthropic and Mistral as well as locally run models, with a different one for each step if desired. Businesses use their own account with the model provider and pay the model costs directly there, without a mark-up.

Regardless of the provider, schnell.digital recommends that businesses clarify three things before adoption: where data and company knowledge are stored, whether the model can be changed without rebuilding the processes, and how processes and knowledge can be taken out again when switching platforms. schnell.digital explicitly asks the last question of its own AI Kit as well.

Information about the AI Kit is available at schnell.digital/en/ai-kit, and the new features of the autumn update at schnell.digital/en/ai-kit/releases/herbst-2026. A pilot usually takes six to eight weeks, and licences start at 349 euros per month.
